Lava

Vancouver performer Lava (Lana O'Keefe), - director/choreographer of “Sisters of Alchemy” has been studying, performing and teaching bellydance since 1999 . Her biggest influence in bellydance is Carolena Nericcio (Fat Chance Belly Dance), with whom she studies as often as she can with dedicated practice. In 2005, Lava founded “Sisters of Alchemy” - her tribal fusion troupe. With a diverse background in theatre, music, yoga, film and television studies, and many dance forms (ballet, jazz, tap, modern, hip hop, Can Can, middle eastern dance, tribal style and tribal fusion, Bharata Natyam, Odissi...), Lava has developed (SOA)'s style into its "rockin-lockin" & "smooth-groove". She is currently producing new works, for Sisters of Alchemy, for a full length show, and will be an instructor at ‘Tribal Fest 8‘, this spring in Sebastopol Ca.

As performer, choreographer, instructor and musician, Lava is devoted to tribal style. Grateful for the many opportunities and friendships it has brought into her life, she will continue to contribute to the world of tribal bellydance for as long as she possibly can.

Shelley

Shelley has been dancing and studying with Lava since 2001. She started her dance studies learning Egyptian style, but had her heart stolen by tribal style bellydance, while joining Lava in the “Sisters of Alchemy”. It has been one of the most positive & transforming aspects of her life.

In addition to dancing with Sisters of Alchemy, Shelley is a visual artist including painting, drawing, and beaded jewelry. The people who inspire her most are David Bowie, Floria Sigismondi, Tim Burton, and of course all the beautiful tribal dancers in the world. Namaste Ladies!
